Sky View Rehabilitation & Health Care - Nourishing Souls with Hot Meals at Home

Maria Martinez, 85, receives two nutritious meals daily, five times a week, delivered to her doorstep, free of charge. They are delivered by Robert Spiro, another citizen of Croton-on-Hudson. Martinez is only one of half-a-dozen deliveries that Robert makes daily, and Robert's deliveries are only a fraction of the deliveries made to seniors around Croton every week.

The meals are sent out by the Croton Caring Committee, a home grown grass-roots organization under the dynamic stewardship of Anne Kennedy, dedicated to helping the handicapped and homebound. The organization has only a single employee - everything is provided by Croton-on-Hudson citizens and businesses. For the Meals at Home program, volunteers like Spiro provide the manpower packaging and delivering the meals promptly and with a smile. The food is provided by one of Croton-on-Hudson's local facilities: Sky View Rehabilitation and Health Care.

Everyone at Sky View is intent on helping the disabled and elderly and maximizing their quality of life. They embrace the Croton Caring Committee's projects, providing encouragement, ideas, and full involvement in the Meals at Home program. Since Sky View's involvement, the flow of meals has increased, as has the quality of the cuisine. All the food is provided by Sky View's kitchen.

Sky View's magnificent facilities are state-of-the-art, and the exquisite grounds include a new patio affording an unobstructed vista of the Hudson River. Sky View provides an amalgam of exceptional medical care, compassionate caregivers and a five-star atmosphere against the backdrop of Mother Nature. But it is their attitude to the community that makes the difference for Croton's elders. "We're not just a rehab facility that happens to be in Croton-on-Hudson," explains administrator Steve Share. "We're proud to be a member of the local community. Croton is a vibrant and exciting neighborhood and we're part of it. Sponsoring the Caring Committee's Meals at Home program is just one way to give back to those that make Croton such a great place to live."

Autumn Arrives With a Splash

On Oct. 18, the onset of the autumn season was celebrated at Sky View Rehabilitation and Health Care with an unforgettable Harvest Fling. Sky View Residents and their families enjoyed a delectable buffet dinner in an elegant ambiance and were entertained by a great karaoke performance.
